Motor Industry - Introductory Skills

The NZ Motor Industry Training Organisation has reclassified and revised the unit standards listed above.

Date new versions published                                                          July 2007

Planned review date                                                                           December 2009

Reason for the revision

MITO has introduced a Motor Industry Startup package for secondary schools.  These introductory level standards have been identified as suitable for delivery and assessment within secondary schools; several are also essential learning for students who will be going out into workplaces as part of this programme.  Rather than require each secondary school to seek individual accreditation, this new Motor Industry - Introductory Skills domain is to be added to the Base Scope Accreditation for Schools (BSAS) to Level 2.  The opportunity was also taken to make several small corrections and updates to the standards.

Main changes resulting from the revision

·        All standards have been reclassified to the Motor Industry – Introductory Skills domain.

·        A correction has been made to the range of performance criterion 1.6 and a new performance criterion 3.8 added to standard 16113.

·        The range of performance criterion 1.1 in standard 21857 has been updated to more accurately reflect the assessment requirements for the different industry groups.

·        Amendments have been made to special notes and performance criteria in all standards to update terminology and ensure consistency with more recently registered MITO standards.
