Opportunity – The Training Organisation, through Scaffolding, Rigging and Industrial Rope Access Industry Training (SRIIT), has completed the review of the unit standards listed above.

Date new versions published                                                          July 2007

Planned review date                                                                           December 2012

Summary of review and consultation process

The review was undertaken to determine the relevance of the above standards to industry, given the recent registration a number of smaller, more targeted and malleable standards.  This is part of an ongoing process to improve the relevance and quality of both standards and qualifications managed by Opportunity – The Training Organisation in the Lifting Equipment subfield.

Feedback from stakeholders was sought through representatives of interest groups such as employers, unions, training organisations and assessors.  The executive of SRIIT, comprising representatives of these and other groups (such as candidates and wider industry) also consulted their constituencies and commented accordingly.

Main changes resulting from the review

·        Standards 4200-4203 have been designated expiring because they are large, difficult to assess, and no longer fit for purpose.

·        A series of new standards (23223-23227) have been registered that together with previously registered standards (20855-20860) replaced standards 4200-4203.

·        Four new standards have been developed 23229-23232.

Unit standards categorised as category C expire at the end of December 2010.
