AMAP for Agriculture Industry Training Organisation - Animal Care and Handling [Ref: 0228]

Development of Agriculture Industry Training Organisation AMAP

The Agriculture Industry Training Organisation has developed the Accreditation and Moderation Action Plan (AMAP) above.

Date new version published                        June 2007

The next AMAP review is planned to take place during 2011.

Summary of development and consultation process

Responsibility for unit standards in domains, Animal Care, Animal Handling, Animal Husbandry, Laboratory Animal Care, and Veterinary Nursing in the Animal Care and Handling subfield has changed from NZQA to the Agriculture Industry Training Organisation.

Sector requirements for accreditation and moderation were determined and confirmed through extensive consultation with industry representatives, training providers, moderators, and employers.  Meetings, email, and conference calls were used in the consultation process.

Feedback was collated, and further considered by the relevant sector representatives.  Requirements were incorporated into the AMAP template.  A representative from the Agriculture Industry Training Organisation Board and the Animal Care and Handling Industry Training Advisory Committee have endorsed the new AMAP.

Compliance with new requirements

Accreditation requirements will apply immediately.

Moderation system requirements will apply from September 2007.

Accredited organisations will be audited for compliance with AMAP requirements from January 2008.
