The Community Support Services Industry Training Organisation (CSSITO) has completed the review of the unit standards listed above.

Date new versions published                        June 2007

Planned review date                        December 2012

Summary of review and consultation process

CSSITO has reviewed the unit standards listed above as a result of extensive consultation with the industry over the latter part of 2005 and early 2006.  Changes in the service delivery requirements for the industry have resulted in the current unit standards no longer being considered fit for purpose.  An Advisory Group, consisting of service provider representatives, Ministry of Health Officials, and representatives from the service user groups, has met regularly over this time to look at the implications of the new health funding models on the unit standard requirements.  The feedback provided by the Advisory Group has resulted in major changes being made to the existing unit standards and six new unit standards being developed.

Main changes resulting from the review

Main changes resulting from the review include:

·          Designating unit standards 20825 and 20828 as expiring.

·          Adding new elements to unit standard 20829.

·          Adding new performance criteria to unit standard 20830.

·          Updating purpose statements in all the unit standards.

·          Updating the special notes where required.

·          Updating range statements where required.

·          Increasing the credits of 20829 and 20830.

·          Increasing the level of 20824 and 20827 from two to three.

Unit standards categorised as category D expire at the end of December 2009.
