Summary of review and consultation process
NZHITO, in conjunction with stakeholders, has reviewed the unit standards listed above. As part of a wider review of the Horticulture Resources Management domain, this review considered the currency of the unit standards and their suitability for existing and proposed qualifications; the accuracy and appropriateness of their content to the horticulture industry; the usage of the unit standards over the past five years; and the availability of other generic management programmes and national qualifications registered on the National Qualifications Framework. The review of these unit standards has also been coordinated with the development of new unit standards for the postharvest sector.
Main changes resulting from the review
Unit standards 3020 and 3024 have been designated expiring and will not be replaced. However, the review resulted in the registration of two recommended alternative unit standards (23705 and 23709). These unit standards have been classified in the Production Horticulture domain, along with nine other new unit standards, developed for the postharvest sector.
Unit standards categorised as category D expire at the end of December 2010.
