Date new versions published                        March 2007

Planned review date                        December 2011

Summary of review and consultation process

This review is part of a major review of the motor industry and outdoor fabric product qualifications (QReview) being conducted by NZ Motor Industry Training Organisation (MITO).  The QReview Steering Group endorsed these standards after major consultation was carried out covering a wide range of stakeholders through focus group meetings and followed by industry wide consultation.  These standards will form part of the new qualifications for Industrial Textile Fabrication.

Main changes resulting from the review

·          The Motor Trimming, Canvas Fabrication, and Sailmaking standards have been reclassified to domains within the new Industrial Textile Fabrication subfield.

·          Many industry specific standards have been made generic to the Industrial Textile Fabrication sector and have been reclassified to the Industrial Textile Fabrication Core Skills domain.

·          Standards 1321, 5023, 8299, 8314, 8315, 8316, 8320 and 11800 will expire and not be replaced.

·          Standards 1314-1319, 1322-1323, 8298, 8300-8303, 8306-8309, 8317 and 8322 have been replaced and reclassified.

·          Standard 1314 was replaced by standards 23479, 23480, 23491, and 23492.

·          Standard 8298 was replaced by standards 23479 and 23480.

·          Standards 8304, 8310, 8312, 8321 and 11806 have been reclassified.

·          Standards 1320, 1324-1327, 5021, 5022, 8305, 8311, 8313, 8318, 8319, 14145 and 16704 have had changes to the title and have been reclassified.

·          Standard 8321 has increased from level 2 to level 3.

·          Standard 16704 has increased from level 3 to level 4 and the credits have decreased from 7 to 2.

·          The credits for standard 14145 have increased from 2 to 3.

·          The credits for standard 11806 have decreased from 15 to 10.

·          19 new standards have been developed.

Unit standards categorised as category C or D expire at the end of December 2010.
