The next qualification review of the National Certificate in Printing (Production Support) (Level 2) with strands in Carton Cut and Crease, Finishing (Carton), Sheet-fed Offset, Reel-fed Printing, Screen Printing, and Dry Offset [Ref: 0593] is planned to take place in 2009.

Summary of review and revision exercise, and consultation process

The qualifications have been amended following a review of industry requirements for the Formed Shapes Letterpress/Dry Offset sector, which included a full review of unit standards as well as all components of the existing training programmes.

A meeting was held in July 2006 and involved PrintNZ Training members and industry representatives.  As a result the qualifications have been altered to take account of the changes made to the unit standards and to align them with current business practices.

The review team considered that Dry Offset was a more appropriate description for the sector and the unit standards were reclassified and qualification titles have been changed accordingly.

This report includes a REVIEW section for qualifications 0498 and 0499, and a REVISION section for 0593.
