Revision of Pulp and Paper Manufacturing (Tissue Converting)qualifications

National Certificate in Pulp and Paper Manufacturing (Tissue Converting) (Level 3) [Ref: 0651]

National Certificate in Pulp and Paper Manufacturing (Tissue Converting) (Level 4) [Ref: 0652]

 

Forest Industries Training and Education Council (FITEC) has completed a revision of the qualifications listed above.

 

Date new versions published                        May 2007

 

The next qualification review is planned to take place during 2012.

 

Reason for the revision

 

These qualifications were revised to update their content, as a result of the replacement of the Total Productive Manufacturing unit standards by the Competitive Manufacturing standards, a review of the Pulp and Paper Manufacturing standards in 2006, and the review of the Management subfield.

 

Main changes resulting from the revision

 

The revision incorporates replacements for expiring standards; the updating of Pulp and Paper Manufacturing subfield and domains; the updating of the Management subfield to Business Operations and Development; the inclusion of further electives in the Level 4 qualification Elective List B, previously included in Elective List C.

 

The qualification titles were updated to reflect the amended classification of unit standards in the compulsory section.

Changes to structure and content

·      The title of this qualification has been updated to reflect the name of the new subfield covering the standards in the Compulsory section. 

·      Unit 21508 Apply 5S procedures in a competitive manufacturing organisation, has replaced standard 18933.

·      Subfield and domain titles for standards 5634 and 5638 have been updated following the review of pulp and paper standards in the Compulsory section.

·      The domain title for Total Productive Manufacturing has been updated to the new title Competitive Manufacturing in Elective List C.

·      The subfield Pulp and Paper Manufacturing has been updated to Wood Fibre Manufacturing in Elective List C.

 

Transition

 

People currently working toward version 4 of the National Certificate in Pulp and Paper Manufacturing (Tissue Converting) (Level 2) [Ref: 0650] can either complete its requirements or transfer to version 5.  People choosing to complete version 4 of the qualification have until 31 December 2011 to do so.  The last date for entry to training programmes or courses for the replaced qualifications is December 2008.  Assessments for the new version will start when the qualification is registered.

·      Subfield and domain titles for standards 5634 and 5638 have been updated following the review of pulp and paper standards in the Compulsory section.

·      The subfield Management in Elective List B has been updated to the new subfield Business Operations and Development.

·      The domain title for Total Productive Manufacturing has been updated to the new title Competitive Manufacturing in Elective List C.

·      The domains Delivery of Adult Education and Training, and Assessment of Learning have been moved from Elective List C to Elective List B.

·      The subfield Management in Elective List B has been updated to the new subfield Business Operations and Development.

·      The domain title for Total Productive Manufacturing has been updated to Competitive Manufacturing in Elective List C.

·      The subfield Pulp and Paper Manufacturing has been updated to Wood Fibre Manufacturing in Elective List C.
