The Ministry of Education and the Secondary Assessment and Liaison business unit of NZQA have completed a review of the achievement standards listed above.

Summary of review and consultation process

 

This review was a part of a planned review cycle.  Feedback was received from the secondary sector and from the moderation and examination systems.  National consultation on the standards has resulted in the proposed changes.

 

Main changes resulting from the review

 

AS90114

Explanatory Note (EN) 2 has been removed.  The definition for comprehensive understanding has been amended slightly and moved to EN 1.

 

AS90115

A minor adjustment has been made to the wording of the achievement criterion for each level of achievement.  A definition for show understanding has been added to EN 1.  The definition for comprehensive understanding has been amended slightly.  The reference to the length of the narrative prose now reads 120 words, as opposed to 100 words.

 

AS90117

The title has been amended slightly.  The reference to collecting and selecting information from a range of sources has been removed from the introductory statement, achievement criteria, and ENs.  EN definitions relating to the three levels of achievement have been clarified.
