achievement standards listed above.

Summary of review and consultation
process
This
review was a part of a planned review cycle. Feedback was received from the secondary
sector and from the moderation and examination systems. National consultation on the achievement
standards has resulted in the proposed changes.
Main changes resulting from the
review
These achievement standards have been
changed to be consistent with the Te Reo Rangatira Level 2 and 3 achievement
standards. This has resulted in the
following changes:

AS90136 has been replaced by AS90801
(informal speaking) and AS90802 (formal speaking).
·
AS90138 has been replaced by AS90803
(crafted writing over time) and AS90804 (writing to
respond).
·
AS90139 has been replaced by
AS90805.
·
AS90140 has been designated expiring
(category D) as candidates are expected to demonstrate the knowledge and skills
in Level 2 AS90576.
·
Subject reference numbers have been
reallocated.
·
Achievement criteria and explanatory notes
have been amended for consistency.
·
Vocabulary lists and definitions have been
amended for consistent interpretation.
Externally
assessed achievement standard 90138 categorised as category C expires at the end
of December 2007.
Internally
assessed achievement standards categorised as category C or D expire at the end
of December 2008.
