Summary of review and consultation process

The Waikato Branch of the NZ Thoroughbred Breeders Association (NZTBA) educational sub-committee, met in July 2007 to review unit standards 1637, 1638, 1641, 1642, 1644-1647, 1658, 17037, and 17706.  Draft changes were sent out to the Waikato Branch of the NZTBA for comment and their views were taken into account during the review process.

The review was carried out to ensure that the standards were consistent with industry practice and to draw upon the practical experience gained from assessing and training industry trainees against the standards.  The review was also aimed at improving the clarity of the standards, and removing inconsistencies.  Entry recommendations were removed to ensure the standards met the needs of all sectors.

Main changes resulting from the review

·                Changes were made to the elements, performance criteria, and ranges to clarify the parameters for assessment and to more accurately reflect industry practices.
