Apparel and Textile Industry Training Organisation has reviewed the above
qualification.

The next qualification review is planned to
take place during 2012.
Reason for the
review
The
Apparel and Textile ITO undertook a revision of the qualification listed above
because the qualification is its present format presented significant barriers
to completion for most trainees. It
also gave the opportunity to include the recently developed industry specific
standards.

Main changes resulting from the
review
Changes to content and structure
· The minimum credit total has decreased from 57 to 40.
· Elective A and B have been swapped to allow industry specific requirements to be listed first.
· Compulsory standard 497 has been substituted with standard 17915.
· Compulsory standards 2780 and 10851 are no longer specified, but are included in Elective B.
· Compulsory standards 2444 and 2445 have been substituted with standard 19841.
· Elective A now includes all standards in the Wool Scouring domain, and the minimum number of credits required has been increased from 10 to 12.
· Elective B allows for the balance of credits to be selected from anywhere on the NQF
· The purpose statement has been updated.
Transition
People currently enrolled in a programme leading to the award of version 2 may either complete that version or transfer to version 3.
This
qualification contains standards that have been used as substitutes for earlier
standards. For the purposes of this
qualification, people who have gained credit for the original standards are
exempt from the requirement to gain credit for the replacement standards - see
table below.
