18029

The Electricity Supply Industry Training Organisation has completed the review of the unit standard listed above.

Date new versions published                                                          October 2007

Planned review date                                                                           December 2012

Summary of review and consultation process

This unit standard has been reviewed as part of an overall review of the National Certificate in Electricity Supply Cable Jointer qualifications.  The industry steering group convened to undertake this review agreed that the NCES Cable Jointer Level 3 and Level 4 qualifications should be made distinctly low voltage (Level 3), and high voltage (Level 4). Currently unit standard 18029 is in the NCES Cable Jointer Level 3 and covers both low and high voltage operations.  In order to make the required distinction between the two qualifications, two new standards have been drafted to replace 18029: 23898 to cover low voltage operations, and 23899 to cover high voltage operations.  Standard 23898 will replace 18029 in the NCES Cable Jointer Level 3, while 23899 will be introduced to the NCES Cable Jointer Level 4.  These new standards negate the need for 18029 which is therefore to be expired.

Main changes resulting from the review

·         Standard 18029 to be expired and replaced by two new standards.

·         Two additional standards have been developed at the same time as the review.

·         Unit standards categorised as category C expire at the end of December 2009.
