Summary of review and consultation process

 

These unit standards have been reviewed as part of an overall review of the National Certificate in Electricity Supply Mechanical Fitter qualifications.  ESITO circulated the unit standards to their consultation network, providers, and advisory group to canvass feedback on any changes required to the unit standards.  This feedback indicated that overall the standards were still relevant and fit for purpose and just required some minor changes to reflect recent changes in industry practice, to make some instructions clearer, and to update terminology and legislation.  Entry was made open to all standards in recognition of the fact that in practice the same skills are required for both the standards and their prerequisites.

 

Main changes resulting from the review

 

·           Special note 3 has been updated to reflect current legislation.

·           All references to 'enterprise' have been changed to 'industry'.

·           Entry has been made open.

·           Changes to elements, performance criteria and ranges have been made in line with feedback received from consultation with industry.
