The NZ Extractive Industries Training Organisation has completed the review of the qualifications listed above.

The next qualification review is planned to take place during 2011.

 

Summary of review and consultation process

 

This review took place in response to feedback from stakeholders; to meet ongoing industry/sector demand for the qualifications; to update the qualifications in view of recent standard reviews; and to make them fit for purpose in today's industry environment.  Consultation took place over the last three years on a regular basis through meetings, teleconferences, email, and telephone.

·      titles, levels, and credits of reviewed standards in this qualification have been updated

·      Core Elective 3 has been deleted

·      standard 6400 has been added to the Core Compulsory and 2401, 2977, 2989, 3483, 3490, 9677, and 21912 have been added to Core Elective 1

·      standards 17309-17311, 17314, and 17316 have been removed from the Surface Extraction Strand Elective and the Underground Extraction Strand Elective

·      standard 8919 has been removed from the Underground Extraction Strand Compulsory

Changes to structure and content

·      the structure of the qualification has been modified to include an additional strand, Lime Milling.  The new strand will effectively replace the National Certificate in Extractive Industries Lime Milling [Ref: 0474], and as a result that qualification has been designated as expiring

·      titles, levels, and credits of reviewed standards in this qualification have been updated

·      the Core Compulsory section has been expanded and emphasises health and safety

·      standards 8922, 16687, 17602, 17983, 23648 have been added to the Core Compulsory section and standards 2395, 2396, 8074, 8085, 16701, 16703, and 17574 to the Core Elective sections

·      standards 1178, 9674, 9707, and 15851 have been removed from Core Elective sections and standards 7147 and 8919 removed from the Underground Extraction strand
