Summary of review and consultation process
The unit standard was last reviewed in 2002 and needed to be updated to ensure that this unit standard is fit for purpose, national in scope and technically sound.
Representatives from current training providers, the Family Planning Association and staff from the National Cervical Screening Programme (NCSP) met to review the content of the unit standard and the underpinning quality systems as outlined in the AMAP (Ref: 0007). This process has been supported by an email consultation of the wider network of key stakeholders and interested parties.
Main changes resulting from the review
· Level 7 decreased to Level 6 to provide a better match between the level descriptors and the contents of the standard.
· The skills in the previous element 1 have been moved and are now included within the remaining three elements.

Impact on Accreditation and Moderation Action Plan (AMAP)
AMAP 0007 has been reviewed in conjunction with this unit standard and has been updated to meet current industry requirements.
