Date new versions published April 2008
Planned review date December 2012
Summary of review and consultation process
The Civil Defence unit standard 7318 was reviewed by the LGITO Civil Defence Emergency Management (CDEM) Advisory Group. The major reason for the review was to incorporate new rescue terminology and techniques and to update the standards following the repeal of the Civil Defence Act 1983, which was replaced with the Civil Defence Emergency Management Act 2002. It was decided that the unit standard content had changed so much that it should be designated expiring and a new unit standard should be developed to replace it.
The LGITO Civil Defence Emergency Management Advisory Group met to review the unit standards. The Civil Defence Emergency Management Advisory Group is made up of representatives from local, regional, rural and urban CDEM organisations, and a private training establishment working in the industry. Comment was sought from the industry and other interested parties.
Main changes resulting from the review
· Unit standard 7318 was reviewed and needed major changes that resulted in the development of a replacement unit standard with a new id.
Unit standard 7318 as category C expires at the end of 2010.
