The Hospitality Standards Institute has completed the review of the unit standards listed above.

Summary of review and consultation process

 

Feedback from the industry indicated that these unit standards, which were reviewed in 2004, did not meet the needs of the target audience which now included both educational institutions (schools and training providers) and trainees working in the industry.  An advisory group comprised of both industry and provider representatives met to review the current unit standards and develop a new unit standard to meet an identified gap in the current skill set.

 

Main changes resulting from the review

 

·      Element 3 was removed from unit standard 17284.

·      A new element was added to unit standard 17285.

·      Sufficiency requirements have been added to the special notes in unit standard 17288.

·      A new unit standard at level 4 was developed.
