Revision of Adventure Tourism qualification
National Certificate in Adventure Tourism (Level 4) [Ref: 1099]
The Aviation, Tourism and Travel Training Organisation has revised the qualification listed above.
Date new version published August 2008
The next qualification review is planned to take place during 2009.
Reason for the revision
The qualification listed above has been revised to remove the National Certificate in Tourism (Core Skills) (Level 3) [Ref: 0876] as a prerequisite qualification. It was determined that this prerequisite was a barrier in terms of lengthening the time required for the completion of the National Certificate in Adventure Tourism (Level 4) [Ref: 1099]. Aviation, Tourism and Travel Training Organisation has been informed by the Adventure Tourism industry of a perceived lack of relevance of the prerequisite qualification within the National Certificate in Adventure Tourism (Level 4) [Ref: 1099].
Main changes resulting from the revision
Changes to structure and content
· total credits have increased from 90 to 92
· the National Certificate in Tourism (Core Skills) (Level 3) [Ref: 0876] has been removed as a prerequisite for the qualification
· the domain Outdoor Equipment has been changed to Any (in subfield Snowsport) in Elective 1
· the Engineering and Technology field has been removed from Elective 2.

People currently enrolled in programmes leading to the award of version 1 of this qualification may either complete that version or transfer to version 2.
