Revision of Community Support qualification

 

National Certificate in Community Support (Core Competencies) (Level 3) [Ref: 1327]

 

The Community Support Industry Training Organisation has revised the qualification above.

 

Date new versions published                                                          August 2008

 

The next qualification review is planned to take place during 2011.

 

Reason for the revision

 

Version 2 was issued following revision in order remove the Core Health standards, which have been designated as expiring and for which new providers are unable to gain accreditation.

 

Main changes resulting from the revision

 

The name of the qualification was amended and the classification changed so that it has the same classification as other Career Force qualifications.  The range of standards in the elective section has been increased to provide more options.

Changes to structure and content

·           Compulsory standard 20100 was removed and elective standard 20700 was removed

·           Standard 23388 was added to the compulsory section

·           Standards 20827, 23391, 23925, and 23926 were added to the elective section

·           Compulsory credits were reduced from 45 to 44 and the elective credits were raised from 12 to 13 at Level 3 or above

·           The name and classification of the qualification was changed from Community Support to Community Support Services.

 

Transition

 

People currently working towards version 1 of this qualification may either complete that version by 31 December 2010 or transfer their results to the version 2.  The last date for entry to training programmes or courses for version 1 is December 2008.  Assessments for the new version will start when the qualification is registered.
