Summary of review and consultation process
The review was carried out because feedback had indicated that a change in content and structure was required to meet current industry requirements.
The consultation process included industry representation from the hydro operations sector. Concerns were expressed that the National Certificate in Electricity Supply (Hydro Operator) (Level 4) [Ref: 0893] contained a number of standards no longer appropriate to hydro operations, due to changes in current practice and technology. The steering group expressed a desire to have a qualification based on training modules intended for hydro operators and a replacement qualification was drafted consisting of new and existing standards based on these modules.
Main changes resulting from the review
The National Certificate in Electricity Supply (Hydro Operator) (Level 4) [Ref: 0893] has been replaced by a new qualification consisting of compulsory standards with no elective options.
