The Ministry of Education and the Secondary Assessment and Liaison business unit of NZQA have revised the achievement standard listed above that was registered in November 2005.  In addition, the planned review date of the achievement standard has been changed to reflect current plans.

A minor change (an updated version of a text) has been made to the achievement standard.  The change has implications for the 2009 examination as the new translation has some different character names in it.

1               Students will select a topic from one of the following:

·                Aristophanes' Comedies

Wasps and Frogs from Aristophanes, The Frogs and Other Plays, (Middlesex: Penguin, 1964) (trans. D. Barrett), including a general knowledge of socio-historical background, staging, techniques of humour, structure, characterisation, and theme.
