The Aviation, Tourism and Travel Training Organisation has completed the review of the unit standards listed above.

Date new versions published                                                          December 2008

Planned review date                                                                           December 2013

Summary of review and consultation process

The unit standards were due for review.  Drafts of unit standards were circulated for feedback to the Casino Gaming Advisory Group, which comprised representatives from casinos of New Zealand.  The aim was to determine and discuss whether existing unit standards were still fit for purpose and to identify any gaps within them.

The Group advised that two new casino table gaming units related to Poker for Level 3 and 4 qualifications needed to be developed.  All feedback collected was considered and, where appropriate, incorporated into the unit standards.  The Casino Gaming Advisory Group then endorsed these unit standards.

·      Unit standards 9896 and 9897 were decreased from Level 4 to Level 3 to better align the required skills with the registration criteria.

·      Two new casino table gaming units at Levels 3 and 4 were developed to cover poker.

·      Legislation was updated.

·      Amendments were made to titles, special notes, elements, performance criteria, and range statements.
