Review of Pharmacy qualification

National Certificate in Pharmacy (Technician) (Level 5) with strands in Community, and Hospital [Ref: 0423]

The Pharmacy Industry Training Organisation has reviewed the qualification listed above.

Date new version published                                                             December 2008

The next qualification review is planned to take place during 2013.

Reason for the review

The Advisory Group has designated many of the standards contained in this qualification as expiring when they were found to be not fit for purpose.  They developed five new standards that better fit the requirements of the pharmacy technician's job role.  This resulted in a requirement to review the qualification to include the newly developed unit standards.

Main changes resulting from the review

·      Expiring standards have been removed.

·      New standards have been included in the compulsory section.
