Revision of Road Transport Management qualifications

National Certificate in Road Transport Management (Operations) [Ref: 1209]

National Diploma in Road Transport Management [Ref: 0961]

Tranzqual ITO has revised the qualifications listed above.

Date new versions published                                                          December 2008

The next qualification review is planned to take place during 2010.

Reason for the revision

These qualifications have been updated to take account of unit standard reviews: the National Certificate has been updated to take account of expiring unit standards 1770-1775; the National Diploma has been updated to take account of the review and reclassification of Business unit standards, and expiring unit standards 1770-1775. (See November 2008 review report for Commercial Road Transport Skills unit standards 1770-1775.)

Due to limited uptake since first registration, Tranzqual plans a full review of the National Diploma in Road Transport Management in 2010.  This will allow further usage of the qualification by its main provider, and provides the opportunity to combine the review with the review of the National Certificate in Road Transport Management (Operations).  The extension of the planned review dates also allows time for the ITO to gather feedback on Level 4 and Level 5 Road Transport Management unit standards registered in 2007.

Main changes resulting from the revision

Reclassified and reviewed unit standards have been addressed and qualification credit totals have been reduced.

The changes made as a result of this revision are intended to maintain the currency of the qualifications with minimum impact on providers and trainees part way through a programme.
