The Seafood Industry Training Organisation (SITO) has completed the review of the qualification listed above.

The next qualification review is planned to take place during 2013.
Summary of review and consultation process
SITO's advisory review group consisting of industry representatives, industry assessors, and moderators has completed a review of the Factory Trawler Technician standards (17935-17954, 17958), and related qualifications.
The review took place in Nelson from 24-26 September 2007. The advisory review group met to ensure the Factory Trawler Technician standards and qualifications continue to meet industry requirements, are current and fit for purpose.
The review of Seafood Processing standards that are within this qualification has necessitated a change to the structure to ensure relevant knowledge and skills continue to be covered.

Changes to structure and content
· Title changed to incorporate the level of the qualification
· Credit total has increased from 128 to 152
· Compulsory standard 15677 has been replaced by standard 20168
· Compulsory standard 16707 and Elective 2 standards 16706 and 16708 have been replaced with standards 25184, 25183, and 25185 respectively
· The structure of Elective 2 has been changed to allow candidates to choose a pair of standards related to either fish skinning (Set A) or fish mincing (Set B)
· Standard 23901 has been added to the compulsory section and standards 23900 and 23902 have been added to Elective 2 to cover knowledge and skills required for seafood processing equipment
· Titles, levels, and credits have been updated to reflect the results of standard reviews.
Transition
People currently working towards version 1 of this qualification must transfer their results to this version of the qualification unless they gained credit for standard 15677 before it expired in December 2004. Candidates with credit for standard 15677 may either complete the requirements for version 1 or transfer their results to this version of the qualification.
This qualification contains standards that replace earlier standards. For the purposes of this qualification people who have gained credit for the expiring standards are exempt from the requirement to gain credit for the listed standards – see table below.
