Summary of review and consultation process
These unit standards were reviewed by Sfrito in response to industry feedback that they were not fit for purpose or reflective of industry needs. During 2005 Sfrito established a focus group made up of industry representatives to review these standards and identify any gaps. As a result of this review, several new standards were developed to create improved pathways for personal and career development and maximise the effectiveness of these standards for people in school, provider, and workplace settings.
Main changes resulting from the review
The review process has resulted in the following changes to the unit standards:
· Unit standard 17153, 17154, and 17155 were replaced by unit standards 24665, 24666 and 24667 respectively. Unit standards 24666 and 24667 are now focused on instruction of ropes course activities, and the credits required have decreased from 15 to 5 and 8 respectively.
· Introduction of unit standard 24663 specifically for school (peer) leadership situations.
· Introduction of unit standard 24664 for the assessment of people responding to non-routine situations and rescues on high ropes courses.
· Unit standards 467, 470 and 473 had only minor editorial changes.
· Unit standards 468, 471, and 474 had a decrease in credit from 7 to 6.
· Changes were made to the special notes of all Adventure Based Learning unit standards including changes to definitions and the inclusion of notes about legislative and regulatory requirements, and minimum assessor requirements.
Unit standards categorised as category C or D expire at the end of December 2010.
