Summary of review and consultation process

 

Earlier this year a pilot assessor workshop was held, where a number of candidates were assessed against unit standard 23436. The participants (who included representatives from the Heavy Haulage Association and Transit New Zealand) and the assessment specialists identified problems with both the unit standard and the assessment material.  The unit standard and the assessment material have been amended to take account of this feedback, and endorsed by the Industry Advisory Group.

 

Main changes resulting from the review

 

The major change has been that a candidate will now be supplied with a scenario outlining a specified trip route rather than the addition of a special note that specifies an area permit.  Other changes include: some reworking of the performance criteria to improve readability and to correct technical errors; and amendment of title. There have been no changes made to level or credits.

 

The planned review date is December 2012 to align with the other unit standards in the Heavy Haulage domain.
