Summary of review and consultation process
This review is due to the planned review of the unit standards within the Engineering - Fabrication domain and is based on current industry requirements.
Competenz has been in consultation with the industry sector and the Polytechnics throughout 2007 and early 2008. It has been decided that the reviewed Engineering - Fabrication qualifications will be modelled against the National Certificate in Mechanical Engineering.
All unit standards in the Engineering - Fabrication domain are being reviewed, however it has been agreed by the sector advisory group to review unit standard 2415 ahead of all other unit standards.
Final industry consultation and endorsement took place by email during March and April 2008.
Main changes resulting from the review
· Unit standard 2415 has been replaced by unit standard 25075.
· Contents updated as per industry sector requirements.
· Unit standard 25075 aligned to recently registered unit standards within the Mechanical Engineering subfield.
Unit standard categorised as category C expire at the end of December 2010.
