Review of Fibrous Plaster qualification

The Building and Construction Industry Training Organisation has completed the review of the qualification listed above.

The next qualification review is planned to take place during 2012.
Summary of review and consultation process
This qualification was reviewed as part of the scheduled review process for the Fibrous Plaster domain, and in response to changing industry needs. Feedback was sought from a working party consisting of representatives from the Fibrous Plaster industry regarding the structure and content of the qualification, which was updated following consultation, and subsequently endorsed by industry.
Main changes resulting from the review
The qualification contained a number of standards that covered similar skills but at different levels, the lower level skills have now been removed from the qualification. Details of standards were updated to reflect the outcome of reviews. Two standards considered important to the construction industry have been added to the compulsory section of the qualification. They are Unit 8492, Use standard units of measurement and Unit 22145, Handle construction materials. The level has been added to the title.

Changes to structure and content
· details of standards were updated to reflect the outcome of reviews
· standards 4323, 4325, and 17583 were removed from the qualification
· standards 8492 and 22145 were added to the compulsory section
· minimum credits for the qualification decreased from 167 to 158
· the level of the qualification was added to the title.
Transition
People currently working towards Version 3 may choose to complete that version or transfer their results to Version 4. The final date for entry into Version 3 is 31 March 2009. The final date for assessment of Version 3 is December 2012.
All versions of this qualification will be recognised by the Building and Construction Industry Training Organisation. It is not intended that anyone is disadvantaged by this review. Anyone who feels they have been disadvantaged may appeal to the Building and Construction Industry Training Organisation at the address below.
