Revision of Community and Social Services/Snowsport qualification

 

National Certificate in Snowsport with strands in Aerial Lift Operation, Road and Carpark Services, and Surface Lift Operation [Ref: 0439]

 

Sport, Fitness and Recreation Industry Training Organisation (Sfrito) has revised the qualification listed above.

The next qualification review is planned to take place during 2010.

 

Reason for the revision

 

Feedback received from the industry advised that the Road and Carpark Services strand was unachievable because of standard 229.  The standard was creating a barrier for anyone wishing to complete the strand and the skills it covers are not required by people employed in Road and Carpark services in the Snowsport industry.  Analysis of achievement of the qualification identified that of over 300 people enrolled in the strand only three people had been able to achieve the strand, and this was because they already held credit for standard 229 prior to enrolment.  Further consultation with the industry confirmed the skill is not required by these role holders.

Changes to structure and content

·      standard 229 was removed from the compulsory section of the Road and Carpark Service strand, and the credit requirements for the elective section of the strand were increased from 16 to 20.

·      credits for standard 2322 were updated to reflect changes made at review.

 

Transition

 

People currently working towards version 6 of this qualification may either complete the requirements for that version or transfer their results to this version of the qualification.
