Date new versions published                                                          July 2008

Planned review date                                                                           December 2013

Summary of review and consultation process

A review of unit standards in the Transportation of Waste and Recoverable Resources domain took place over the period of April - August 2007.  Although only a proportion of the unit standards were due for review, it was considered timely to include all Tranzqual ITO unit standards in the domain so that consistency and compatibility of approach could be achieved.

An Industry Advisory Group (IAG) was formed comprising assessors, key industry stakeholders and ITO representatives.  Consultation with the IAG took place by facilitated meetings and e-mail.  IAG representatives consulted with wider industry and the draft reviewed standards were forwarded to key providers for comment.  Suggestions from these wider groups were incorporated in the changes to the standards.  The IAG endorsed the proposed changes.

Main changes resulting from the review

·      Unit standards 17195 and 17196 were designated as expiring as the technology they cover is now redundant.

·      Credits for unit standards 17231 and 21574 were adjusted to more accurately reflect the time required for learning and assessment.

·      Level of unit standard 17199 was reduced to better reflect the outcome of the standard.

·      Addition of target candidates to purpose statements.

·      Rewording of entry information statements for solid waste unit standards.

·      Re-ordering, rewording, and re-formatting of special notes information to provide consistency across unit standards.

·      Inclusion of 'operational requirements' in the definition for 'organisational requirements' in special notes.

·      Change of wording from 'operational requirements' to 'organisational requirements' in performance criteria to capture everything in that definition.

·      Change in wording of end-notes to comply with new unit standard format.

Unit standards categorised as category D expire at the end of December 2010.
