National Diploma in Security Management (Level 6) [Ref: 0562]
National Diploma in Security (Level 6) [Ref: 1059]
The ElectroTechnology Industry Training Organisation has revised the qualifications listed above.
Date new versions published June 2008
The next qualification review is planned to take place during 2009.
Reason for the revision
The revision was conducted to ensure that the qualifications remain current and achievable following the review of standards in the Quality Management, Writing, Workplace Fire and Emergency Response, and Security Staff Services domains and the review of field Business. This revision has been endorsed by the Security Industry Training Advisory Board (SITAB).
Main changes resulting from the revision
The revision has resulted in formatting changes and updated review dates for all four qualifications. Any standard or classification review changes have been integrated.
National Certificate in Security (Communications) (Level 3) [Ref: 0560]
Changes to structure and content
· no changes have been made to the compulsory component of this qualification
· credit values changed for standards 6521, 6523, 6524, 6526, 6531, 8545, and 8546
· title changed for standards 3492, 6523, 6526, 6531, 8085, 8545, and 8546
· standard 21739 replaced 8618
· level changed for standards 3271 and 6524
· purpose statement amended
· review date updated to 2009
· NQF classification updated.
This qualification contains a standard that replaces an earlier standard. For the purposes of this qualification, people who have gained credit for the expiring standard are exempt from the requirement to gain credit for the replacement standard - see table below.

The new review date is now December 2009. There have been no changes to structure and content.
Transition
Candidates can either complete the version of the qualification they are enrolled in or transfer to the latest version.
It is not intended that anyone be disadvantaged by this revision, and the above arrangements have been designed for a smooth transition. However, anyone who feels they have been disadvantaged may appeal to the ElectroTechnology Industry Training Organisation at the address below.
