Date new versions published                                                          June 2008

The next qualification review is planned to take place during 2013.

Summary of review and consultation process

These qualifications were reviewed as part of the scheduled review process for the Specialist Interiors domain, and in response to changing industry needs.  Feedback was sought from a working party consisting of direct representatives from the Specialist Interiors industry regarding the structure and content of the qualifications, and they were updated following consultation and endorsement by industry.

Main changes resulting from the review

There was sufficient crossover between the reviewed qualifications to warrant combination into one new qualification with three strands - Suspended Ceilings, Proprietary Partitions, and an Optional Access Floors strand.  The title reflects this, and the level of the qualification has been added.  The reviewed qualifications contained a number of standards that covered similar skills but at different levels.  The lower level skills have now been removed.  Title and credit details of standards were updated to reflect the outcome of reviews.  Replacements for expiring compulsory standards have become optional to more accurately reflect the needs of industry.  Two standards considered important to the construction industry have been added to the compulsory section of the qualification, these are Unit 8492, Use standard units of measurement and Unit 22145, Handle construction materials.
