Review of Meat Processing qualification
National Certificate in Meat Processing – Petfood (Safety) (Level 3) [Ref: 1060]
The New Zealand Industry Training Organisation has completed the review of the qualification listed above.
Date new versions published March 2008
The next qualification review is planned to take place during 2013.
Summary of review and consultation process
This qualification was registered in November 2003 and has been reviewed to coincide with the recent registration of new versions of the petfood unit standards, and to ensure that the existing qualification was fit for intended use. Consultation and discussion with NZFSA, AsureQuality, and other industry stakeholders over 2007 identified that minor modifications were required. These modifications reflected the updating of industry and legislative terminology, and the division of two major skill sets to meet industry needs.
Main changes resulting from the review
This review has resulted in minor changes to the qualification title and significant changes to the structure. Two strands have been created to provide flexibility in the specialised area of ante-mortem and post-mortem examination.
