Revision of Distribution qualifications

The Retail Industry Training Organisation (Retail ITO) has revised the qualifications listed above.
Date new versions published March 2008
The next qualification review is planned to take place during 2009.
Reason for the revision
The qualifications listed above have been revised to remove unit standards designated expiring as a result of their reviews. The Retail ITO thought it necessary to update these qualifications, as assessments against some of the expiring unit standards can occur only until December 2008.

Changes to structure and content
· Expiring unit standard 19173 was removed from the elective section.
· Unit standard 23544 was added to the elective section.
· Title and credit value of unit standard 497 were updated.
· Titles of unit standards 111, 1985 and 19172 were updated.
Transition
People currently working towards version 1 of this qualification may complete the requirements for that version or transfer to version 2. The last date for assessment of version 1 is 31 December 2008.
The National Certificate in Distribution (Level 2) contains standards that replace or are used as substitutes for earlier standards. For the purposes of this qualification, people who have gained credit for the expiring standards are exempt from the requirement to gain credit for the replacement standards – see table below.

Changes to structure and content
· Expiring unit standards 9676 in the compulsory section and 17497 in the elective section were replaced by 21335 in the compulsory section.
· Expiring unit standard 408 was replaced by 11969 in the compulsory section.
· Expiring unit standard 11994 was replaced by 23395 in the elective section.
· Titles of unit standards 11961, 18336 and 18337 were updated.
· The Management subfield was updated to Business Operations and Development in the elective section.
· The lapsing Retail and Wholesale subfield was removed from the qualification.

This qualification contains a classification that replaces a lapsing classification. For the purposes of versions 1 and 2 of this qualification, people who have gained credit for standards in the lapsed classification may continue to use those credits to meet the qualification requirements.
