Summary of review and consultation process
The Boating Industries Training Organisation is in the process of reviewing the National Certificate in Boatbuilding (Level 4) with strands in Marine Cabinetmaking, Composite Sparmaking, Alloy Boatbuilding, Marine Rigging, Marine Painting, Composite Boatbuilding, Steel Boatbuilding, Wooden Boatbuilding, Marine Systems Engineering, Metal Sparmaking, Composite Production Trailer Boats, and Alloy Production Trailer Boats [Ref: 0877]. This process has resulted in the review of the unit standards listed above, some of which needed to be replaced, and the creation of new unit standards.
Main changes resulting from the review
· Changes have been made to special notes, range statements, and definitions in some unit standards to reflect the requirements of industry.
· Credits have increased for unit standard 18160, and decreased for unit standards 9939 and 9940.
· Unit standard 9950 has been replaced by unit standards 25155 and 25156.
· Unit standards 9951 and 9952 have been replaced by unit standards 25119, 25121, 25122, 25123, and 25151.
· Unit standard 18168 has been replaced by unit standards 25117 and 25118.
· Nine new unit standards have been developed to meet the needs of industry.
Unit standards categorised as category C expire at the end of December 2011.
