Revision of Cleaning and Caretaking qualification
National Certificate in Cleaning and Caretaking (Level 2) with strands in Commercial Cleaning, and Health Care Facilities [Ref: 0214]
The Building Service Contractors Industry Training Organisation (BSCITO) has revised the qualification listed above.
Date new versions published November 2008
The next qualification review is planned to take place during 2010.
Reason for the revision
During the BSCITO's Assessor workshops held in September 2008, it was noted that there were a number of problems with the Health Care Facilities strand. In a hospital, cleaners are not allowed to give any form of medical assistance to patients so standards 6401 and 6402 were removed. Employers indicated they were prepared to send staff on a first aid course.
It was also noted by some assessors that not all hospitals have or use a high speed polisher but may have and use a swing type polisher.
