Revision of Commercial Road Transport qualification

National Certificate in Commercial Road Transport (Introductory Skills) [Ref: 0189]

Date new version published                                                             November 2008

The next qualification review is planned to take place during 2010.

Reason for the revision

This qualification is designed for young people interested in entering the commercial road transport industry.  Programmes leading to the qualification are suitable for training opportunities students or 'second chance' learners; the qualification recognises their achievement in key skills for the workplace such as basic mathematics, communication skills, and light motor vehicle driving.

The revision of this qualification is designed to maintain its currency until a full review is carried out in 2010.  The listings of reviewed standards have been updated and the elective has been expanded as feedback indicated that a wider range of communication skills electives would be useful.

The planned review is timed to allow the Tranzqual ITO to carry out further research on attracting new entrants to commercial road transport sectors, and to gather feedback from new qualification providers starting programmes in 2008 and 2009.
