Revision of Poultry Husbandry qualification

 

National Certificate in Poultry Husbandry (Level 3) with strands in Egg Production, Poultry Hatchery, and Poultry Meat Production [Ref: 1177]

 

The Agriculture Industry Training Organisation has revised the qualification above.

 

Date new version published                                                             October 2008

 

The next qualification review is planned to take place during 2010.

 

Reason for the revision

 

The qualification was revised as it contained standards affected by the recent review of standards in domain Agriculture Vehicles and Machinery, and some standards listed as compulsory were a barrier to completion for people completing the Poultry Hatchery strand.

 

Main changes resulting from the revision

 

·         Standards 8849 and 8856 have been moved from the Core Compulsory section to the strands in Egg Production and Poultry Meat Production.

·         Standard 19043 in the Core Elective section has been replaced by standard 24552.

·         Standard 6257 in the Core Elective section has been removed from the qualification as it is no longer required by industry.

·         Minimum credits have been decreased from 116-124 to 111-123.

 

Transition

 

People currently working towards version 1 or 2 of this qualification may either complete the requirements of that version or transfer their results to this version of the qualification.

 

The last date for assessments to take place for version 1 is December 2010.

 

The last date for entry to training programmes for version 2 of the qualification is December 2009.  The last date for assessments to take place for version 2 is December 2012.

 

This qualification contains standards that replace earlier standards.  People who have gained credit for the expiring standards are exempt from the requirement to gain credit for the replacement standards.
