Opportunity – The Training Organisation (OTTO), in collaboration with the Building and Construction Industry Training Organisation (BCITO), has revised the unit standards listed above. Responsibility for these unit standards has been transferred from BCITO to OTTO.
Date new versions published September 2008
Planned review date December 2009
Reason for the revision
The revision was undertaken to transfer responsibility for the above unit standards to Opportunity - The Training Organisation from the Building and Construction Industry Training Organisation. Two of the unit standards concerned do not appear in any BCITO qualifications (unit standards 15757 and 21969) and all the unit standards listed above fit readily within OTTO's gazetted coverage of scaffolding and industrial rope access.
The planned review date for the unit standards has been deferred until December 2009. OTTO will undertake a review of the standards in the next twelve months to ensure their on going fitness for purpose in all the areas to which they apply. This will include consultation with building, construction and all relevant industry sectors.
Main changes resulting from the revision
The responsible Standard Setting Body has been changed to Opportunity - The Training Organisation and contact information amended accordingly. No substantive change has been made to the content of any of the unit standards.
In keeping with the change in responsibility, AMAP coverage of these unit standards has been amended and their classification has been adjusted to simplify transfer and subsequent review, which will be undertaken expeditiously by OTTO.
· Unit standards 13016, 13053, 15757 and 21969 have been transferred to the Core Construction domain.
· Reference to the Best Practice Guidelines for Scaffolding in New Zealand has been inserted in the special notes of unit standards 9184, 13016, 13053 and 15757.
· All the unit standards have moved from AMAP 0048 to AMAP 0183.
· Contact information has been amended to reflect the transfer of responsibility.
The unit standards have been checked for currency of legislation and regulations and minor changes made to up date this information where necessary.
