Revision of Extractive Industries qualification

 

National Certificate in Extractive Industries (Operations) with strands in Lime Milling, Surface Extraction, and Underground Extraction [Ref: 0248]

 

The Extractive Industries Training Organisation has revised the qualification above.

 

Date new version published                                                             September 2008

 

The next qualification review is planned to take place during 2011.

 

Reason for the revision

 

The inclusion of standard 17983 in the Core Compulsory section of the qualification has created barriers to achievement by some sectors of the industry.

 

Main changes resulting from the revision

Changes to structure and content

·      Standard 17983 has been removed from the Core Compulsory section.

·      Credits totals have been adjusted to reflect the removal of the standard.

 

Transition

 

People currently working towards version 5 or 6 of this qualification may either complete the requirements for that version or transfer their results to this version of the qualification.  The last date for assessments to take place for version 5 is 31 December 2009.

 

It is not intended that anyone be disadvantaged by this review, and the above arrangements have been designed for a smooth transition.  However, anyone who feels they have been disadvantaged may appeal to NZ Extractives Industries Training Organisation at the address below.
