Summary of review and consultation process
These unit standards were part of a review exercise that was initiated by Careerforce in 2004. This review took place to meet the diversional therapy industry's changing needs and to update regulatory requirements.
Feedback from assessors and moderators indicated that with the growth in the industry and evolving foci within the National Certificate in Diversional Therapy (Level 4) [Ref: 0727] as it was structured at the time, considerable change was required.
Consultation with industry representatives was wide-ranging and comprehensive, taking the form of multiple meetings, telephone calls, and e-mail correspondence over an extended period of time.
Main changes resulting from the review
· The titles of unit standards 5786, 5788, 5789, 5791, 5792 and 5795 have been amended to better reflect their outcomes.
· Unit standards 5786, 5788 and 5791 have decreased in level to better reflect their content.
· Unit standards 5788 and 5791 have increased in credits, and unit standard 5789 has decreased in credits, to better reflect time needed for learning and assessment.
· Unit standards 5785 and 5787 have been replaced by 23918 and 25770 respectively.
· Unit standards 16816 and 16817 have been designated expiring and will not be replaced.
Unit standards categorised as category C or D expire at the end of December 2010.
