Revision of Electricity Supply qualifications

The Electricity Supply Industry Training Organisation (ESITO) has revised the qualifications above.
Date new versions published April 2009
The full qualification review is planned to take place later this year.
Reason for the revision
A full review of the National Certificate in Electricity Supply (Vegetation Control) qualifications at Levels 2 and 4 was completed, aligned with the corresponding Approved Code of Practice. However, final approval of the Code has been postponed and it is still uncertain when this will take place. In the meantime the existing qualifications require revision in order to update reviewed standards where the title, level or credit value has changed.
Main change resulting from the revision
Standards in both qualifications were updated to reflect changes to the title, level or credit value, with a corresponding change to the total credit values of the qualifications. Standard 10538 was removed from the National Certificate in Electricity Supply (Vegetation Control) (Level 2) [Ref: 0857] as it is also included in the National Certificate in Electricity Supply (Vegetation Control) (Level 4) [Ref: 0858]. Standards 24569 and 24570 were added to the National Certificate in Electricity Supply (Vegetation Control) (Level 4) [Ref: 0858], replacing standard 1255, which was removed from the qualification. As a result of updating standards the level of the National Certificate in Electricity Supply (Vegetation Control) (Level 2) [Ref: 0857] increased to 3.

Changes to structure and content
· Total credit for the qualification increased from 76 to 83 (or 87 with optional standard).
· Standard 10538 was removed from the qualification.
· The qualification level increased from 2 to 3.

Changes to structure and content
· Total credit for the qualification increased from 114 to 131 (or 137-173 with optional elective/s).
· Standard 1255 was replaced by standards 24569 and 24570.
Transition
Trainees may either complete the requirements of the current versions of the qualifications before 31 December 2011 (Ref: 0857), or 31 December 2012 (Ref: 0858), or transfer to the new versions.
All new trainees will be enrolled in programmes leading to the new versions of the qualifications.
Ref: 0858 contains standards that replace an earlier standard. For the purposes of this qualification, people who have gained credit for the expiring standard are exempt from the requirement to gain credit for the replacement standards - see table below.
