Summary of review and consultation process
Meetings involving ETITO, industry representatives and other key stakeholders, including the Electrical Engineering Advisory Group (EEAG) and the Telecommunication Education and Skills Standard Organisation (TESSO) were convened in 2009 to undertake the review of the above unit standard to allow it to be used across the whole electrotechnology industry.
The consultation groups were asked to consider the following:
· the currency of the unit standard and its suitability for existing and future qualifications
· the appropriateness of the unit standard to the domain
· the accuracy and appropriateness of content
· whether the level and credit reflected performance outcomes and training needs
· any gaps in skills and/or knowledge that could be captured by the development of new unit standards
· the assessability of the unit standard.
Main changes resulting from the review
· Classification was changed from Engineering and Technology > Telecommunications > Telecommunications - Organisational Operation and Control to Engineering and Technology > Electrical Engineering > Electrotechnology.
· Title, special notes, elements, and performance criteria were amended to reflect the classification change.
· Purpose statements were amended to accommodate changes to the elements.
· Special notes were amended to update references and definitions.
· Range statements were amended to clarify evidence requirements.
