Change to expiry date for Funeral Services qualifications

 

National Certificate in Embalming [Ref: 0289]

National Certificate in Funeral Directing [Ref: 0290]

National Diploma in Funeral Services [Ref: 0459]

 

The Funeral Service Training Trust of New Zealand (FSTT) has changed the expiry date of the qualifications above.

New expiry date                                                                                   December 2011

 

Reason for the change to expiry date

 

The National Diploma in Funeral Services [Ref: 0459] is awarded to students who qualify for both the National Certificate in Embalming [Ref: 0289] and National Certificate in Funeral Directing [Ref: 0290].  Both these certificates, however, are delivered across a fifteen-month period over two adjoining academic years, involving two consecutive enrolments.  Therefore, the minimum time for the completion for all three qualifications is four calendar years.

 

Unfortunately, when the qualifications were replaced and designated as expiring in October 2007 insufficient time was allowed for transition.  Students who enrolled on programmes at the beginning of 2008 were unable to complete requirements of the three qualifications before the expiry date of 31 December 2010.

 

The expiry date of the qualifications has been changed from 31 December 2010 to 31 December 2011.
