Date new versions published August 2009
Planned review date December 2014
Summary of review and consultation process
The unit standards listed above were reviewed as part of the Māori Qualifications Services review cycle, to ensure that the standards are fit for purpose and applicable to current issues.
Members of the Whakaruruhau Mana Wahine met to review the standards over three meetings on 23 August 2007, 13 and 14 March 2009 and more recently at a Technical Evaluation meeting held in Auckland on the 12 and 13 June 2009.
MQS and the Whakaruruhau acknowledge the amount of time elapsed from the start of the review to final submission and have worked collaboratively towards a solution-focused approach to addressing identified issues.
As part of the review the Whakaruruhau have added four new standards. The new standards have been developed to assist in streamlining and ensuring the standards are layered in a manner that will assist learners to pathway to higher level skills and knowledge but exit at any point. It will also allow the Mana Wahine standards to be utilised by other qualifications such as the National Certificate in Māori (Te Waharoa) (Level 2) [Ref: 0878], while allowing candidates the opportunity to draw from this subfield in a specialist capacity.
