Summary of review and consultation process
The standards in these domains where last registered in 2004 and have now been reviewed to ensure continuing fitness for purpose. Feedback was invited from providers, assessors, moderators, and companies in the industry, and standards edited. Suggested changes were relatively minor, and the opportunity was taken to generally improve the quality of the standards. Meetings involving Competenz and industry representatives considered the feedback and endorsed the changes in August 2009.
Main changes resulting from the review
· Titles were amended for consistency.
· Elements and performance criteria were amended to improve clarity and consistency.
· Purpose statements were amended to accommodate changes to the elements.
· Special notes were updated to better convey assessment parameters, including clearer definitions, updated references to legislation, and clarification of the breadth and depth of evidence required to demonstrate competence.
· Level of unit standard 7747 was increased from 1 to 2 to better reflect the complexity of the knowledge and skills required.
· Unit standards 7660, 7692, and 7848 were designated 'D' category expiring and will not be replaced.
Unit standards catergorised as category D expire at end of December 2011.
