The Plastics and Materials Processing Industry Training Organisation (PaMPITO) has completed the review of the unit standards listed above.
Date new versions published December 2009
Planned review date December 2014
Summary of review and consultation process
These unit standards were reviewed as part of a routine review of unit standards in the Plastics Processing Technology subfield which was undertaken during 2008.
An Industry Advisory Group of representatives from industry including subject matter experts, lecturers, trainees, and standard setting body staff was formed by PaMPITO to review the National Diploma in Plastics Processing Technology (Level 5) [Ref: 1004]. As part of this same review, the Industry Advisory Group members reviewed these constituent unit standards and created one additional unit standard. The Industry Advisory Group examined and amended the unit standards to take account of current industry needs.
Main changes resulting from the review
· Clarification of entry information.
· Credits for unit standard 19379 have reduced from 10 to 6.
· Credits for unit standard 19380 have reduced from 10 to 8.
· Two additional performance criteria and further wording to clarify evidence requirements have been added to unit standard 19378.
· A new unit standard has been developed for inclusion in the Plastics Materials domain. This new unit standard has been created to reflect necessary competencies in the plastics industry that reflect knowledge of plastic product development expertise.
· The title of unit standard 19381 was amended to read Demonstrate knowledge of plastics processing, fabrication and product finishing technologies.
