Date new versions published                                                          December 2009

Planned review date                                                                           December 2010

Summary

This unit standard, titled Read and interpret legislation, was revised to correct technical inaccuracies and was rolled over to extend its date for review so it could be included in the reviewed National Certificate in Public Sector Compliance Management (Road Transport) (Level 4) [Ref: 1170].

The national certificate is designed for transport officers at the New Zealand Transport Agency (NZTA), and NZTA initially provided suggested changes to the unit standard in terms of accuracy.

Comment was sought and provided by the Local Government Industry Training Organisation, as they are planning to include it in a new resource management compliance qualification.  Comment was invited from education providers who had used the unit standard in recent years, and moderation feedback was sought.  A member of State Services Commission's Legal team also provided advice and comment on the changes.

The unit standard will be reviewed as part of the scheduled review (December 2010) of all the unit standards in the Public Sector Core Skills domain.
